Line dancing in the Illawarra
Join Illawarra Country Bootscooters for classes at The Barn in Kanahooka. From your first steps to intermediate dances, there are morning and evening classes to suit your experience.
Never danced before?
Three Absolute Beginners levels
Start with Level 3 if you are new to line dancing. Levels 2 and 1 build on steps learned in earlier classes. Each session is a one-hour Power Hour, with payment per class and no term commitment.

Absolute Beginners — Level 3
Wednesday
5:10pm – 6:10pm
An introduction to basic steps and terminology for first-time dancers. Also suitable for dancers who joined Level 2 later and want to review earlier material.

Absolute Beginners — Level 2
Tuesday
5pm – 6pm
Builds on basic steps, terminology and sequences. For a more advanced class, try Level 1 on Monday; for an introduction to the basics, start with Level 3 on Wednesday.

Absolute Beginners — Level 1
Monday
6:50pm – 7:50pm
Builds on the fundamentals with gradually more challenging dances. Suitable for dancers already familiar with basic steps and terminology.
Pay per class.
Each Absolute Beginners level has its own playlist on BootStepper, so you can run through the dances at home.
Weekly classes
10 classes a week, Monday to Friday
4 in the morning and 6 in the evening, absolute beginner through to intermediate. Find class times and descriptions in the timetable.

What we are dancing in each class
Every class has its own playlist on BootStepper, with step sheets and music so you can practise at home. The dances we are currently doing in each class, updated by the instructors as new dances are taught.
Boot Scoot & Bloom
Did you know we have classes that cater to those with additional needs?
Boot Scoot & Bloom offers welcoming line dancing classes for people with disability, led by Karissa Howard and supported by Illawarra Country Bootscooters. Make friends, enjoy music and learn to dance in a relaxed, inclusive space. No dance experience needed.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-in shoes, and bring water. Mobility aids are welcome, with water breaks throughout the class.

$15 per class, including a carer or companion
If you need a carer, they must stay for the class and are welcome to dance too.

Everyone learns the same steps and dances individually in rows. Come on your own or bring a friend.
No experience needed
Our Wednesday Absolute Beginners Level 3 class introduces the basic steps, with no previous dance experience needed.
No booking, no term fees
Join a regular class and pay at the door, with no term commitment.

What to wear
Comfortable clothes
Wear clothes you can move comfortably in. Cowboy boots are optional.
- Closed-in shoes are strongly recommended

- Club shirts and hoodies are available
More than a class
Life at the club
For 33 years, our club has brought dancers together on and off the floor. Join us for competitions, festival performances, themed parties, charity nights and social outings.










Where to find us
The Barn, Kanahooka
The Barn at the Illawarra Aquatic Club is a venue dedicated to line dancing, with a sprung dance floor for all our classes and club dances. Access is via Kanahooka Road.
